Promises:

Promise #1 to You as Parish President: I will work to restore our original seven districts.

The Home Rule Charter mandates that the districts of our rural parish be reduced from seven to four. The net effect of this reduction will dilute your representation, your voice. I was asked how? I simply asked her, "Would you want your child in a class of 20 students or 40 students?"

Promise #2 to You as Parish President: I will not hire a Parish Manager to do my job.

With a Parish population of less than 10,000 coupled with a very small budget of around $7 million, our Parish simply cannot afford it. We need a "hands on" Parish President with actual experience in development, administration and operations.

Promise #3 to You as Parish President: I will abide by a simple majority vote of the council.

Our Home Rule Charter gives the Parish President super majority power, or really control, over the Parish Council. The people of our parish are all equal partners and no one person has a greater stake than the other; thus the Parish President should abide by a simple majority vote of your council.

Super majority control simply reduces your voice even further, but more importantly, it opens the door to allow a few to run the parish as they see fit, without any recourse by you, the citizens, the partners of our parish.

Promise #4 to You as Parish President: I will not be an "off premise" Parish President. I will be available in the Parish to all on a full time basis.

The Parish President will wear many hats; from administrator of operations, to planner, to parish leader in times of disaster or emergency. As such, the position will require more than a simple commitment to a 40-hour work week. The Parish President's focus needs to be concentrated in West Feliciana Parish, and he or she should be able to work collaboratively with our elected officials on the local, legislative, and congressional levels, as well as with regional entities such as the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC). Maintaining and increasing involvement with these entities will help the Parish President direct industry to our parish and will further ensure large-funded capital improvements to West Feliciana. In order to do this, his or her energies and efforts must be focused on West Feliciana Parish, not elsewhere around the state, country, or world. Real-time success comes from real-time work, not from time spent being just a promoter.
